The Shattered Sun Offensive are the new faction in Patch 2.4, which will be connected to the new area, Sunwell Isle, and its instances, Sunwell Plateau and Magister's Terrace.

Who Are They?

The faction will most likely be made up of Blood Elves and Draenei, and the quests obtained from the Shattered Sun Offensive will explain the story behind Tempest Keep. It will be the culmination of the Scryers/Aldor storyline, which started in Shattrath, and continued in places like Area 52, where you see the storyline being played out. In Patch 2.4, the two groups finally have to work together to drive out the Burning Legion, who are inhabiting the Sunwell which has been re-ignited.

Many NPCs will be changed that were previously either Scryers or Aldor specific, to Shattered Sun Offensive NPCs, like the soldiers by the flight master.

What is Their Purpose?

Possible transport to and from Sunwell Isle?

They will occupy a small camp outside the instances on Sunwell Isle, which will grow into a town as players complete the quests provided to them, much like the opening of the Ahn Qiraj gates.

The completing of quests will unlock content, such as entry to the two instances, Sunwell Plateau and Magister's Terrace, boss encounters inside those instances, and possibly open up further transport options for methods of traveling to the Isle, for example, pictures of Sunwell Isle show possible transport boats (see left).

Shattered Sun Offensive Rewards
