Child born to Aegwynn and Nielas Aran in the Human year 559. He possessed his parents ability for magic and knowledge and was cared for by his father and the Azerothien court. The power of the Trisfal Guardian magic awoke within him when he was 13 causing him incredible psychic trauma, his father Nielas Aran died trying to save him. Medivh fell into a deep sleep and was moved to the Northshire Abbey by King Adamant Wrynn III and Alonsus Faol.

He awoke several years later, in time to attend Prince Llane's ceremony of Ascension to adulthood where he presented him with a magical hourglass as a token of good will.

Medivh contacted Gul'dan just after the creation of the Shadow Council. He sent him and the other Warlocks of the Shadow Council visions of Azeroth and in the Human year 583 created a rift to bind the worlds of Draenor and Azeroth which the Council expanded to create a portal.

At this time Aegwyn, his mother, detected Sargeras' corruption of her son's soul and tried to destroy him after failing to reason with him. Medivh easily defeated his mother and she returned to Azeroth and to warn King Llane of Medivh's powers.

During the Horde's onslaught against the Humans a band of warriors including Khadgar, Garona and Anduin Lothar stormed Medivh's Tower and killed him. Gul'dan, sensing Medivh was close to death, entered his body to extract the location of the Tomb of Sargeras, but Medivh died before he could do so, and sent him into a coma.

After Medivh was killed, he was later resurrected by Aegwyn, his taint of Sargeras apparently gone. He started using his newfound life to save humanity from the events he knew would take place in the Third War, and while failing to make Lordaeron's king Terenas Menethil heed his call, he managed to convince Thrall to bring the Horde across the ocean to Kalimdor as well as Jaina Proudmoore who brought a still large portion of human citizens to Kalimdor.

Medivh later helped Orcs and Humans to work together and saving the world from Archimonde and the Burning Legion. His current whereabouts are unknown.
