Who is causing this "Love Sickness?"
Something is in the air in the major cities of Azeroth. Some call it love, and some just call it friendship and admiration. Whichever it is, many guards and townsfolks now spend their days giving and receiving tokens and gifts to other amorous citizens.

The more skeptical, however, are suspicious of the strange "love sickness" clouding the hearts of so many. Will this widespread occurrence be simply taken as a recent outbreak of amore? Or will our brave adventurers find a sinister plot behind the source of this plague of passion? Only time will tell...

Love Tokens, Gifts and Pledges

Talk to an Innkeeper to buy some [Love Token]s and some [Perfume Bottle]s if you want to attract male NPCs, or [Cologne Bottle]s if you want Female NPCs to like you! Use the perfume or cologne on yourself, then go looking for an NPC with a heart above their head (not the Innkeeper).

When you've found a suitable object for your affections, making sure you have the Cologne/Perfume buff, talk to your chosen NPC. When prompted, give them a [Love Token]. In return, the NPC will give you a Pledge of Adoration (see below) and an "Adored" buff. If you already have the "Adored" buff, you will receive a Pledge of Friendship.

However, if they don't like the look of you, you will not receive anything except a "Broken Heart" debuff. This debuff prevents you from giving a [Love Token] to another NPC for 60 minutes. The only way to remove the debuff is to have another player use an [Unbestowed Friendship Bracelet] on you. Once it has been used, you will receive a [Friendship Bracelet] in your inventory.

Pledge of Adoration

The pledge you sometimes receive for giving a [Love Token] to an NPC contains an assortment of things:

  • [Bag of Candies] - Heart candy with the player's name on it, along with a sentiment such as "I'll follow you around Azeroth". These candies can be given to other players.
  • [Box of Chocolates] - contains a selection of chocolates consisting of a mixture of the following:
[Buttermilk Delight]
[Dark Desire]
[Sweet Surprise]
[Very Berry Cream]
  • [Love Fool] - Drops a love dummy on the ground that drives nearby monsters into an envious rage! Lasts for 15 seconds.

Pledge of Friendship

If you have the "Adored" buff when giving your [Love Token] to an NPC, instead of receiving a Pledge of Adoration, you will get a Pledge of Friendship. What you get depends on the NPC you speak to, and where they are located.

Civilian NPCs will give the following items. If 5 of these pledges are combined, they produce another object:

Item Combine Five to Get:
Alliance [Dwarven Homebrew]
[Handmade Woodcraft]
[Homemade Bread]
[Box of Woodcrafts]
[Case of Homebrew]
[Sack of Homemade Bread]
Horde [Freshly Baked Pie]
[Freshly Picked Flowers]
[Romantic Poem]
[Box of Fresh Pies]
[Basket of Flowers]
[Book of Romantic Poems]

City Guard NPCs will give the following cards. If 5 of these cards are combined, they produce another object:

Item Combine Five to Get:
Alliance [Ironforge Guard's Card]
[Stormwind Guard's Card]
[Sentinel's Card]
[Parcel of Cards]
[Bundle of Cards]
[Stack of Cards]
Horde [Bluffwatcher's Card]
[Grunt's Card]
[Guardian's Moldy Card]
[Satchel of Cards]
[Package of Cards]
[Sheaf of Cards]

City Guard NPCs will also give the following Pledges. If 5 of these Pledges are combined, they produce a Pledge Collection:

Pledges Combine Five to Get:
Alliance [Pledge of Loyalty: Darnassus]
[Pledge of Loyalty: Ironforge]
[Pledge of Loyalty: Stormwind]
[Darnassus Pledge Collection]
