High Elf

Previously Night Elves who travelled east, after being banished from Kalimdor, and set up the Kingdom of Quel'thalas in Northern Azeroth. In time, they transformed into mortals, although retaining their extended longevity. Began war with the invading Trolls soon after arriving. When defeat was imminent they made a deal with the Empire of Arathor and in return for their aid they taught the humans magic. Together they all but wiped out the Trolls in Lordaeron.

High Elves joined the Alliance when the Orcs followed the fleeing Humans from the decimated lands of Azeroth to Lordaeron. When the Orcs set their sights on Quel'thalas the Alliance managed to drive them out, however at great cost to the Elven kingdom, with much of it being lost to the Horde.

High Elves have mostly started calling themselves Blood Elves, and only a small fraction of the surviving High Elves now exist and call themselves such. The few that exist are spread out greatly, some even unaware that the majority of surviving High Elves now call themselves Blood Elves, or are feeding off of demonic energies.

The High Elves that survived the withdrawal effects from the destruction of the Sunwell now often look upon Blood elves with distain. Most High Elves that do not call themselves Blood Elves still sympathise with the Alliance rather than the Horde.
