The Hawkstrider
A half-bird, half-dragon creature that walks on 2 legs. The Hawkstrider resembles the other striders in the game, although they have a definite reptilious look that makes them unique. The Hawkstrider behaves much as the other two-legged mounts in the game, yet they have their own unique style and does not resemble the Raptor or Mechanostrider in more than the movement of your screen when walking.

Hawkstriders in the game
At this time, the different types of Hawkstriders are:
- Swift Green [Epic]
- Swift Pink [Epic]
- Swift Purple [Epic]
- Black
- Blue
- Purple
- Red
They are sold by Winaestra, a Blood Elf NPC in the Eversong Woods.

The Cockatrice
In the early alpha days of The Burning Crusade, the Hawkstrider was called a Cockatrice and although the name is changed, it still resembles the legendary creature as found here.
