Gul'dan

Gul'dan was the Orc Shaman first contacted by the Burning Legion and the founder of the Shadow Council of Warlocks. He was contacted by Medivh and assisted him in opening the rift between Draenor and Azeroth in order to create the first Dark Portal and start the First War with the Humans.

Gul'dan and his Shadow Council controlled Warchief Blackhand the Destroyer and, in essence, the Orcish Horde with all its clans.

When Medivh was about to die, Gul'dan attempted to find out the secret location of the Tomb of Sargeras from his mind. He failed to retract his senses before Medivh died, and became comatose for several weeks. When he woke up he found out that the new Warchief Orgrim Doomhammer had succeeded Blackhand by assassinating him and killed off most of the Shadow Council and was about to kill Gul'dan as well. Gul'dan managed to convince Orgrim that he was needed, and created the Death Knights out of Human Knight's corpses and spirits of his Necrolytes and Warlocks. The first of which was Teron Gorefiend and also the most powerful.

During the Second War he tried to reach the Tomb of sargeras, and took with him his friend and ally Cho'gall and his Twilight's Hammer Clan, weakening the Horde enough to ensure victory for the Alliance. Orgrim had his clan run down and exterminated for his treachery, and Gul'dan himself died in the Tomb, killed by demons. The Skull of Gul'dan still holds much of his former powers, and was found by Illidan Stormrage.
