Dragonblight
The zone of Dragonblight, as the name indicates, is littered with the remains of Dragons. This is the place where Dragons come to die, and each flight has its own Shrine. The Red Dragonshrine is under attack by the Scourge, and players will have to option to help the Reds defend it.

In contrast, players will also have to tackle the Blue Dragonflight in this zone. The insane leader of the Blues, Malygos, has ordered machines to be placed in certain areas of Dragonblight in an attempt to re-align Azeroth's ley lines. Players must stop him, else Azeroth's very existence could be in dire peril.

The spider race who are loyal to the Lich King, the Nerubians, are abundant in this zone and the entrance to their city, Azjol-Nerub is found in the northern area.

The Lich King has found a use for all the Dragon bones in Dragonblight, and has begun re-animating them for his own uses. These magical Dragon skeletons called Frostwyrms are attacking the Lich King's enemies.

In the far north western areas of Dragonblight is the entrance to Icecrown Glacier, the home of Arthas the Lich King. This entrance is guarded by a huge citadel or fortress named Angrathar the Wrath Gate, and is manned by the Scourge and the Narubians.

Towns

  • Fordragon Hold is a large Alliance base on the East of Dragonblight which is under attack from the Scourge. This is also the site for the new version of the instance, Naxxramas, which can be seen hovering over the town.
  • The Scarlet Onslaught, the new name for the Scarlet Crusade, have a base on the southern coast of Dragonblight.
  • Moa'kl Harbor is a Tuskarr village, also on the southern coast.
  • Icemist Village is on the west, and is under attack from the Nerubians. It used to be a home to the winter Taurens.

Inhabitants

Several factions and races inhabit Dragonblight, some friendly, others not so much:

  • Dragons from the main five flights are abundant, due to their shrines being located here.
  • The Scarlet Crusade makes a return, now calling themselves the Scarlet Onslaught
  • The Argent Dawn also make a return, and have a presence here in Dragonblight
  • The Nerubians are found in large numbers here, and the entrance to there city, Azjol-Nerub is in this zone.
  • Tuskarr are found in the village of Moa'kl Harbor
  • Winter Taurens can be seen at Icemist village

Instances

The two instances currently in Dragonblight are Wyrmrest Temple and Naxxramas, both raids for level 80+ players.

Naxxramas is the same as the 40 man level 60+ raid in Eastern Plaguelands, but it has been redesigned for 25 level 80 players. It will be the entry level raid in Northrend, meaning most players will get to experience it. The instance contains Undead mobs and some very difficult boss encounters, including Kel'Thuzad.

Wyrmrest Temple is the other instance in Dragonblight. Currently, it is known to contain just the one raid instance, but Blizzard have hinted it may included more encounters later. The raid is known to be the Chamber of Aspects.
