Nestled between the southern tip of
Lordamere Lake and the
Alterac Mountains, Dalaran is a small, but powerful, magocratic nation. Ruled by a mysterious council of mages known as the
Kirin Tor, the capital was the Violet Citadel, located upon Cross Island. Dalaran was a steadfast ally of the Alliance of the
Second War, and their dedication remained until the
Scourge, in league with the demonic forces of the
Burning Legion, destroyed the arcane wards that protected the capital, and the
Eredar Archimonde destroyed the Violet Citadel with his fell magic.
The Kirnin Tor then erected a magic shield around most of the city, and there has been next to no words on what has happened since then. Most probably, there has been a rebuilding of the city, protected within their bubble.
Note: Dalaran will be translocated to Northrend in the second expansion: Wrath of the Lich King, and act as a neutral sanctuary for both Horde and Alliance heroes who are attempting to overthrow Arthas from his Frozen Throne.
