Archimonde

Also known as the Defiler.

Born of the Eredar race, Archimonde was chosen by the fallen Titan, Sargeras, to lead his army into battle in an effort to raze the ordered worlds of the Great Dark Beyond as a general in the Burning Legion.

Archimonde chose the Pit Lords as his favoured servants, and their leader Mannoroth served as the Defiler's brutal champion. Under the Defiler's leadership the Doom Guard served as his personal guard and the Warlocks of the Eredar race as his tacticians and strategists.

Archimonde led the first invasion of Azeroth, 10,000 years before the Dark Portal opened. The attack was countered by the unified inhabitants of the continent of Kalimdor. The legion entered through the Well of Eternity with the help of the Night Elf Queen, Azshara and her Highborne. Archimonde and the Legion were eventually banished, and the Well was destroyed.

The Third War saw Archimonde's return, and ultimately his destruction. Empowered by tremendous spiritual energies, Nordrassil, the World Tree, destroyed Archimonde in the Battle of Mount Hyjal with the help of Night Elf wisps as he tried to steal its power.

Archimonde can be revisited in the Caverns of Time event where you can revisit the Battle of Mount Hyjal and kill Archimonde yourself.
