Alliance
From WoW: IncGamers World of Warcraft Wiki
Also known as the Alliance of Lordaeron. A term used to define the various nations and races that have opposed the Horde. The members of the Alliance have changed several times over the course of Azeroth's history. During the Second War, King Terenas formed a council with a delegate from each of the seven human kingdoms. Six of the seven nations agreed to unite their forces against the onslaught of the Horde. These nations included Terenas' lands of Lordaeron, as well as the remnant forces of Azeroth (now called Kingdom of Stormwind), the militant Stromgarde, the naval power of Kul Tiras , the small but powerful mageocracy of Dalaran, and the minor nation of Alterac. Only the powerful kingdom of Gilneas refrained from joining, confident in their ability to resist the Orcish invasion. The High Elves of Quel'thalas as well as the Dwarves and Gnomes of Khaz Modan were also integral to securing victory for the Alliance in the war.
The Alliance was short-lived, however, as peace evidently weighed heavier on the kingdoms' unity then conflict. Before long the Alliance was fractured and only the kingdoms of Azeroth, Lordaeron, Kul Tiras, the nation of Dalaran as well as the Dwarves and Gnomes of Khaz Modan remained steadfast in their commitment. This was the state the Alliance would remain in until the end of the Third War Night Elves joined the ranks against demon kind and when the High Elves left the Alliance due to being pushed near extinction from suicide missions by a racist Human general. Though tenuous, the Alliance currently consists predominantly of Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, and Night Elves.
Lately, when the Outland exiles called Draenei managed to flee from their ravaged world, they have seen that the alliance are great followers of The Light, and have joined the ranks with the other races and Kingdoms of the Alliance.
