Don't Fall For The Beta Scams
Due to the recent announcement that players can Opt-In for the Lich King beta, there has been an increase in Lich King Beta scams. We would like to remind everyone that the public beta testing has not yet started, neither have invites been sent out.
We will make it well known when the invites begin to leave Blizzard, and Blizzard have also stated themselves that they will alert players when they start sending official beta invites, so until then, treat anything as a scamming attempt.
If you are unsure about how to detect a scam email or suspicious link, check the thread in our forums.
Blizzard poster Slorkuz replied to a player on the official forums who had received one of these scam emails:

| The email that you received and depicted in that screenshot is a fake/scam. This is a 'phishing' website, pretending to be a Blizzard site asking for your username and password for "log in purposes". Instead, upon entering your information here, it will save the information and give it to the creators of the fake website, granting them access to your account. Please be sure to note that we have not started the Wrath of the Lich King beta program for public play, only the opt-in for a chance of winning access to the upcoming beta. More information about this opt-in can be found here: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread....54136099&sid=1 |
