Tyrael Is Fetching a Good Price
Unlike the majority of Blizzard fans, some people who attended the WWI last weekend just weren't that keen on their free in-game pet, Tyrael. Who knows, maybe they play Starcraft or Diablo... or perhaps they're a bit hard up and have decided to make a some quick money?
Curious to see if any of the WWI gift cards (which entitle players to claim a non-combat pet, Diablo's Tyrael, as well as entry to one of Blizzard's upcoming betas) have appeared for sale anywhere yet, I was quite surprised to find several on Ebay. Currently, the cheapest is going for around $200, but others have reached nearly $400.
Would you pay that much for a mini Tyrael?

Personally I wouldn't pay any RL money for it.

Not being willing to pay 100, 200 or 400 Euro for an ingame pet or mount is my only redemption...the proof to myself that I have not gone completely over the edge :)

Think people are paying for the beta slot more than the pet...

And you have to remember, blizzard has already posted that just because you got a key at the WWI, doesn't mean that you 100% get into the WotLK Beta, it does mean that you get into "a Blizzard Entertainment Beta".
Key thing for people to remember who have, or are planning on buying those keys.

You'd be surprised. IF I'd be willing to pay for either one it would most definitely be the pet. In collection terms the pet is limited and there is, at this time, some finite quantity of them. That quantity is certainly less than 100k and probably closer to 10k (don't know the attendance figures for WWI offhand). Eventual beta testers will probably be several times the number of Tyreal pets.
Beyond that, beta isn't the only way to play wotlk. I know I'll eventually be able to play wotlk without winning an ebay auction. I will never, ever, evah! get the tyreal pet without winning an ebay auction.

I too, even as an avid wow player, am doubting if I like this pet. As someone stated: it looks too much like a dwarf. Tyrael is thinner and his tendrils shouldn't be some sprite they slapped on his back.
I reserve my final judgement until I see one running around ingame though...
