Register for Wrath of the Lich King Beta Now
Players can now register for a chance to be in the Wrath of the Lich King Beta. Simply go to your account management page and click the "Wrath of the Lich King Beta Opt-In" link, as seen below.
There's no mention of the beta opening date, but it can't be too long now...

| Today we opened the Wrath of the Lich King Beta Opt-In program, which gives players a chance to win an invitation to the upcoming Wrath of the Lich King beta. For The Burning Crusade beta, we randomly invited players from the entire World of Warcraft community. With the Opt-In, our goal is to strengthen the beta-testing process by inviting only those players who have expressed active interest in participating. Keep in mind that opting in doesn’t guarantee you’ll be selected for the beta. And players who’ve previously been promised beta access through a promotion or contest (such as by purchasing the Dell XPS M1730 World of Warcraft Edition notebook) don’t need to worry -- you’ll still be entered into the beta automatically when the time comes. |

- The EU account page can be found here
- The US account page can be found here but at the time of writing, the option isn't on the page yet for US accounts.

Update: US page is now online. Thanks Leviathon.

What type of fools do you take us for, Maticus? I thought you were on our side...
Oh wait... This is the real thing isn't it?

I believe BlizzCon '07 attendees already have done this.... but I forget.

They did something like this on another page for a guaranteed beta spot. This is just for random invites.

and this is probably what the German CM meant (and shouldn't have said)... that *registration* for the beta would open on July 3rd.
In any event, this is good news... I'd imagine the beta will open in a couple of weeks if they're opening signups.

very few using this method will get in anytime soon though, people with beta passes and wider press will get in first. Blizzard stated last year they wanted a smaller, less open beta this time around.
EU site seems to have gone down now, probably to stress of so many people trying to access that site which reportedly was taken down several hours ago anyway. Since the US team does all the website design and the EU merley localises it into diffrent languages it was probably put up briefly to test what they had been given worked.

It worked fine for me on the EU site about an hour and a half ago, and update: The US one is now up. Thanks Leviathon :)

Ah, guess they put it back up again, perhaps they jumped the gun too far on the usual same time (in respective timezone) round the world launch

which is what I was referring to. I know this is random while that was guaranteed, but I was meaning that those of us who got the guaranteed slot, might probably no see a beta opt-in option...

You should be able to as this basically just gives you a chance at multiple keys which you can then give to a friend or something.

I am willing to bet that we will see a new flood of scammers trying to email you to visit "Blizzards" site to accept your invitation to the Beta :(
So, whenever you might get an "Accepted" email in the future make 100% sure the links is correct or do as I and manually type in the blizzard site address in your browser to verify.

I hate test, lol I don't have 6 hrs to waiting to get in =( only bad thing about it..

You talking about the download Tralkar? A new thing they are doing with the Alpha is running a regular client you download and a streaming client that downloads things as you need them so there is no 3 gig download. I am guessing they will do the same for the Beta.

I opted in, but with 10 million players I'm not having high hopes :P ah well time to get ready for the flood of scam mail.

I really want to get into it this time, last time I didnt get in despite 3/4 of my guild getting invites by the end. Maticus if you get any to give out look to the long serrving members of the community *wink *wink

I don't remembering ever waiting in queues for TBC's beta.

European server capacity is traditionally lower, even though the EU test realms are hosted in the US.

I'm not promising anything, but we had lots of beta keys to give away when TBC came out, hopefully it will be the same this time :)
