Playing WoW With no Hands

On a project at De Montfort University, Leicester, UK which cooperates with University of Tampere, Finland have expanded on the "Gaze" technology you might (or might not) have heard of, which controls your pc with your eyes. The research team lead by Stephen Vickers have taken the Gaze to the next level, where it is tested in WoW. The main use here is of course as a tool for disabled people to be able to communicate and play in online games rather than a nifty tool for the average wow player, but imagine being able to eat and (effectively) PvP or grind at the same time! Take a look at the video below:

Ok. Since eye tracking is an old school trick, I wonder what this guy is trying to prove? There are worse ways to play wow than with your feet on a gamepad? Actually, since he does turn pretty fast, maybe playing with eye tracking device is actually better than feet on a gamepad!

I think that is the technology is used in a smart way, it could be interesting to use for mainstream users as well.. Or a combination of all of it. Imagine having access to just an additional set of controls, more or less instant with the help of your eyes!

Ofc, in the end, I am rooting for the neural sensors, to control the game directly with your mind ^^

I currently use several aids in playing as I only have one usable hand at the moment thanks to a stroke. I could go a bit faster with one of those certainly but I find I a do a fair job with my left hand (mind you, I am right handed, typing is harder than it looks)

No, that is a good question...

Most of the eye-response systems deal with blinks or verbal commands, there are a few being worked on that react directly to brain response.

well now we have games being controlled with your eyes and monitors that simulate 3dness... next comes games contolled directly with your mind or even games projected into your mind like that ps 9 commercial sony used to advertise for the ps 2 back when it first came out...

Think I'll stick with typing. I don't want to be sitting there having to make fifty eight different winks with my eyes just to write "How R U".
