Daft Question but....

I'd like to get to Rank 10 with my hunter before Tbc comes out, and before the Honor system goes to pot.

Now I'm still a noob when it comes to how the Rp, Hp and Hk work but say for instance I'm half way through rank 5 and my last weeks honor was 36k and I go over kill on AV and rack up 70k I'd go on to rank 6 but after that would I need to 140k to get to rank 7 and so on. each week I'd have to double the amount of honor I get each week if I wanted to achieve my goal.

Or could I just keep doing 70k a week and still get to rank 10 but abit slower I would imagine?

Its not as simple as that in that it very much depends on what other players are doing.
You could get 200K honour at lvl 5 and feasibly not progress at all if all of the players above you were also gaining honor, the converse is also true in that if none of the rank 6 players played for a week (they would drop down) you could possible move up with very little honor gained.

As far as I know it is designed that way so that a set percentage of players are at any rank at any given time. In which case you could gain a rank without playing if everyone on your server had not tried PvP decided to give it a go in the same week (not very likely).

I personally dont like the system as it is as I like to have a definite target to go for and I disagree with the dropping back down for the following reason:
You could be the lowest rank 5 on your server and play for 20 hours in the battlegrounds gaining loads of honor for the week and could drop down to rank 4 should some of the highest level 4's play for more time than you.

Slightly depressing though as I know Azsune isn't a pvp realm but quiet competitive on the pvp front. I suppose if I really want that armor set (your all probably asking why) I'll have to keep at it.

I'm trying to get my SP rep up, for the SP Ram, I do like the look of it, look far better for a dward then a NE with the legs sticking out :laughing:

Well I got to Rank 6 and half way to 7 now, So it's looking good but I have a sneeking suspision I'll have a hard time getting any higher then 7, as I skimmed through the Ranking page on wow website and saw that there was a bucket load of R8 and 9, so I'd have to compete with them if I wanted to get any higher, :scratch:

As it has been said, it all depends on your server. I played on a fairly competitive PVE server before and made Rank 9 by playing an average of 40-50k honor per week with an occasional 100k week in there.

I left for awhile and came back on a new character/server 8 weeks ago with the sole intention of reaching rank 11 in 12 weeks. After 8 weeks I am lvl 60 and 68% of the way through rank 8 but have had to throw myself into the grind non-stop to accomplish this. Last week I went from 56% of rank 7 to the 68% of rank 8 and that was an AV w/e where I had 554k honor and ranked 14th on my server for the week (top 2 had over 1.2 million). I believe I can still hit my goal but will be taking some time off after getting my cheap fast mount to go work on my Shammy again (new toon is an imba 'lock - figure if I made a tough goal, might as well make the best PvP toon for it).

Good luck with your grind - it can be done (but with time running down, the pace just needs to be picked up a little) :-)

Yeah I think I'll get to my goal of Rank 10, I have to stay positive, but last night was hard to stay in that right frame of mind. This Twit leading one of the AV's last night was trying to hold the horde back instead of rushing to IB, we staying in the middle for like an hour, people started getting bored and left, the horde flattened us by summoning the Ice lord and we lost, What an complete T****, I have seen it happen once, pushing the horde back and winning but I was in a premade, but a pug! an't gona happen!

I have always (and will only) play horde and I would have to agree with you 100%. On the horde side (not to hi-jack this thread TOO much), we have two options, get a decent defense at IB that can withstand and drive back the Alliance initial rush there, or go 100% offense and win a race by single pulling and killing Van just inside his bunker while all the marshalls stand motionless in the back of the bunker (this only works when enough people know how to do it and not reset him or agro the marshalls).

But, back on topic - with the next three weekends now being WSG/AB/None I think it should be a little easier to gain rank as AV w/e is the one where you have to live there non-stop to keep up the grind.

Keep at it (even if you're an evil alliance <g>).

There are too many Muppets in the alliance, its just a shame the really good players are over shadowed by the typically hopeless inept, don't know there own class, ditherer that holds everyone else up. I'm not saying I'm an exceptional player, I know my class and how to play it and I'm lucky I have other toons that give me a good incite to how they run. but I do wonder how some of the other Alli players get by, with ya know breathing in and out and stuff...
