WWI WoW Grab Bag Developer Q&A Session

1st Jul 2008 06:03 PM GMT | Maticus | 0 comments

This panel was an opportunity for fans to ask lead members of WoW's production team questions about the game, future, past and present. The panel consisted of Lead Level designer Cory Stockton, Game Designer Tom Chilton, Lead Producer J Allen Brack, Executive Vice President of Game Design Rob Pardo and Executive Vice President of product development Frank Pearce.

The first question was "Why are there no Gnomes in the cinematics?". This produced laughter and applause from the audience. Frank Pierce replied with "Actually there's lots of Gnomes in the Warcraft cinematics, they're just so short that you don't see them in the camera view." Again, rapturous applause and laughter.

The session featured lots of good questions, humor and some new facts. Here are some of the highlights:
  • There will be no more major content patches between now and the release of Lich King.
  • There are plans to improve Warriors to make them much more attractive in tank spec bu giving them more DPS, Heroic Strike and Revenge improvements. Shield slam will also be given to all Warrior specs.
  • Death Knights' emotes will be modulated to sound deeper. This change is to reflect the somber feel of the class.
  • Druids are having a Dire Cat form added, and the Dire Bear form model is being changed, but there are no plans to add armor or customization to the animal forms.
  • Dynamic Line of Sight in Arenas is being added in Lich King (moving obstacles)
  • Shaman totems will affect whole raids as well as the spells Unleashed Rage and Battle Shout in Lich King
  • Rogues' Dagger spec is being buffed in the expansion to make it more raid viable
  • US-EU transfers and vice versa are something Blizzard would like to get round to
  • Uldum and Grim Batol are both places Blizzard want to open up for players at some point in the future.
